The Class of all Classes

I really enjoyed digsto this semester. I use my computer a lot, and being able to do everything for this class in a platform I am very comfortable with was great. The assignments were fun, my favorite being the created Brendo children’s book, and I learned a lot about the back-ends of the internet. Knowing how to create a website in the fashion that we did is great for the future if I want to start a project up. The… (more…)

To Learn or to Listen, That is the Question

After reading Melanie’s article I could not help but think about the project myself, Michael and Matt attempted to do which constituted drinking while creating our radio show to explore a different side of things. Of course this idea was shot down, but not because Martha was against it. The rules of the school and the laws she must follow as a teacher prevented her from allowing us to partake in our adventure, which was our most creative idea we… (more…)

The Digital Platform for Storytelling

As the internet has progressed and the ability to use it has become easier and more efficient, the average user’s functional capacity has widened. The oral tradition of storytelling has been a property of human culture since the beginning. The ways of communicating have expanded from hearsay to literature; and it continues to progress through the use of the internet. The platform the internet provides is ideal for storytelling in that it allows you to express your ideas and reach… (more…)

When I think of the radio I think Comic Strip

Ira Glass is back in action and the main character in Radio, a comic strip rendition of Glass’ point of view when it comes to storytelling and radio success. While the graphics and comic strip style are entertaining and refreshing, they were a little overplayed and often had no meaning behind them. There was also a lot of filler information, or so it seemed. Reading Radio was a very easy task, due to the short length and the way it… (more…)

Scenes from a Recession and Glass’ Perspective

The idea of a compelling story to require question’s and answers throughout that Glass was describing is true. Without the questions being raised, a story wanders mindlessly while not giving the audience any time to think. Glass b rings to attention the importance of captivating the audience continuously, to provide constant entertainment throughout. While there are great stories with fairly linear plot and classics which no questions are raised due to the amount of times it has been heard, a… (more…)

When I think of the radio I think Comic Strip

Ira Glass is back in action and the main character in Radio, a comic strip rendition of Glass’ point of view when it comes to storytelling and radio success.
